CBD Basics

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of the naturally occurring chemical compounds (cannabinoids) found in the hemp plant. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is non-intoxicating and does not cause a “high”.

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors found throughout the body. Visit our About page for more on how our hemp is grown and how our products are made.

The three terms refer to the chemical compound found in different types of CBD extracts or oils.

Full-spectrum CBD, as the name suggests, includes all cannabinoids and plant compounds found in hemp. Broad-spectrum CBD has all hemp compounds except THC. CBD isolate is the isolated or pure CBD. CBD isolate usually comes in crystalline or powdered form and is the purest form of Cannabidiol.

Visit our About Page page for a more detailed discussion on the difference between the different types of CBD.

The term ‘Hemp extract oil’ refers to Hemp extract containing a wide spectrum of plant compounds and not just CBD, as in CBD oil.

Terpenes are aromatic compounds that give plants their unique fragrance. They are commonly associated with cannabis and present in many plants. The cannabis plant, however, has higher concentrations of terpenes.

‘The Entourage Effect’ is a term popularised by Dr. Ethan Russo in 2011. It describes the idea that the different compounds naturally found in the hemp plant – cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids – may interact with one another rather than acting in isolation.

This is why full-spectrum and broad-spectrum products contain a wider range of hemp compounds than CBD isolate. The entourage effect remains an area of ongoing research, and we do not make any claims about the effects of our products.

CBDA is one of the acids that form in the cannabis plant during the growth process, from the free molecules. It is a precursor to CBD, which is a similar, but non-acidic cannabinoid. CBDA is converted into CBD when the plant is processed, i.e. heated, dried, or cured. This means raw hemp plant and raw, unprocessed cannabis products are rich in CBDA, whereas the processed ones are packed with CBD.

Both CBD and CBDA are non-intoxicating cannabinoids.

Raw CBD extract, as the name suggests, is the one that hasn’t been refined and contains a full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes, similar to the raw hemp plant.

Refined is another name for broad-spectrum CBD. This rich, golden-coloured CBD extract is processed to remove the undesirable component –THC. It still contains all other cannabinoids and terpenes.

Pure CBD extract is the one containing only CBD isolate.

There is no single amount of CBD that suits everyone, and how people choose to use CBD varies from person to person.

Please follow the usage instructions on each product label and do not exceed the amount stated on the packaging. We are currently reviewing our product-specific usage guidance in line with the latest developments from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and will update our product information accordingly. If you are unsure whether CBD is right for you, speak to a healthcare professional.

Drug tests generally screen for THC rather than CBD. Full-spectrum CBD products naturally contain trace amounts of THC, and we cannot guarantee that using any CBD product will not affect the outcome of a drug test.

If you are subject to workplace, sports or other drug testing, we recommend seeking advice before using CBD products. The lab report for each product is available on our Lab Reports page.

CBD is non-intoxicating and does not cause the “high” that is generally associated with cannabis. The compound responsible for that effect is THC.

GOGO products are made to comply with UK law and contain only trace levels of THC. You can view the lab report for each product on our Lab Reports page.

Everyone’s experience is different. How quickly you notice anything from a CBD product, and what you notice, depends on the type of product, how it is used (for example a tea or coffee versus an oil taken under the tongue), and your own body.

Many people find it helpful to use a product consistently as part of their daily routine before deciding which product and format they prefer.

We always recommend that new CBD users start with a low-strength product that they are comfortable with, following the instructions on the label. All GOGO products are suitable for new users. Our CBD-infused teas and coffees give you greater control over the strength of your drink; you can always make them milder by diluting with water or milk.

CBD is generally well tolerated by most adults. As with any food supplement, some people may notice mild effects such as tiredness, dry mouth, changes in appetite or an upset stomach. If you experience anything unexpected, stop using the product and consult a healthcare professional.

Always follow the instructions on the label and do not exceed the stated amount. Do not use CBD if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and speak to your doctor before using CBD if you are taking any medication.

CBD, or any drug per se, can interact with certain medications. Therefore, if you are taking any medicine, we strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional before consuming CBD.

It is not addictive. No cases of CBD abuse or addiction have been identified or reported in humans or animals so far.

Of course we do. For the full lab test you can review the LAB REPORTS section on our website.

The majority of experts and the FDA strongly recommends that pregnant and breastfeeding individuals refrain from using CBD, THC, or marijuana in any form.

No. GOGO products are intended for adults aged 18 and over only and are not intended for children. Please keep all CBD products out of the reach of children.
